- to take a possession way from someone when you have the right to do so, usually as a punishment and often for a limited period, after which it is returned to the owner:

Oh stop pulling my leg – you can't have won the lottery, you didn't even buy a ticket!

 

to makea  a mountain out of a molehill

- The phrase 'to make a mountain out of molehill' means you're making a big issue out of a small issue.

 

I only asked him to do the shopping and now he's going on about how he has no time to go to the pub – he's making a mountain out of a molehill.
